Week 40 - Its a HOUSE!

Almost 2 years after we bought our land, we have signed off and moved in!

The house isn't 100% finished, but Boutique will spend the next month finishing all the finer details.  It is amazing to be in and it still doesn't feel real!

We hope that everyone has enjoyed the blog and look forward to turning the page and turning the house into our home!

Week 39 - Almost due!

Well, after 39 weeks of building, we are nearly done.  We met with our supervisor on Friday and had our first official sign off on the house!

Whilst there are still a few items to do, the list is very minor and the works should be completed in the next week.

We can't wait to move in!

Week 38

This week has been very exciting.  Yesterday was had our 'New House Presentation and we are excited to say that it went very well.  There are only minor fixes that need to be completed and paint areas to touch up.

The stairs were finally replaced and fixed this week and look amazing.  They are being stained this weekend and we can't wait to see the finished product.

The 10,000L water tank has also been installed and hooked up, we'll see how long it takes to fill!

The house has been cleaned from top to bottom, so it is fantastic to see it looking like a home rather than a building site.  There will be another big clean this week as there is still quite a bit of dust around but overall its looking pretty good.

We have also ordered all of our blinds/curtains.  Some will arrive before we move in, but some will take awhile.   Most of the house will have simple roller blinds, except for the bedrooms and the front lounge room.  The children's bedrooms will have plantation shutters and the master bedroom and front lounge will have a heavy black out curtain with a sheer over the top.  All of the blinds/curtains are in white or off white.

Additionally we have started thinking about landscaping and have spoken to a couple of landscapers, one of them has come up with a great plan for our front and backyards.  It works well for us because it can be done in stages but we will also be able to do some of it ourselves.  It will be a slow process, but will be worth it in the end!

Week 37

As we are nearing the finish line, there still looks like a list of minor items to do in the house.  We have been meeting more and more regularly with our Site Supervisor to make sure that any issues are being address and discussed as we go instead of making a large list for the final inspection.

Our SS has indicated that he will be at our site every day this next week to make sure all the trades are finishing their work.  The final push from 99% to 100% done!

This week, we are really excited that the stairs are finally getting fixed.  Once they are completed, the rest will fly by quickly.  Here's hoping we are finished this Friday!
